Elmley Castle
There really was a medieval castle at Elmley but very little remains above ground today. For a time it was the chief seat of the Beauchamp family.
Honour
Elmley Castle was the caput (head manor ) of the Worcestershire Honour (estates) of the Beauchamps, the vast areas of land that the family held, mostly from the bishop for which they owed 15 knights fees.
